6 Signs You May Have A Hormone Imbalance

hormonal imbalance

Our bodies are dynamic, glorious machines, but wow, they can sometimes be challenging! And seriously, sometimes the slightest change in your hormones can create a massive impact on your body. If you’re concerned about any of these, come on in, and let’s get you taken care of!

1. Your Periods are Wacky

If you’ve got an abnormally heavy or light flow, or a new symptom out of nowhere, it’s time to pay attention. Some of the symptoms that might be a problem include:

  • Lots of PMS

  • Migraines

  • A super heavy flow

  • A very light flow

  • Fatigue – like you just can’t find the energy to do anything

  • Long or short cycles (longer than 34 days or shorter than 22 days)

Or, anything else that’s just not normal for YOU during your period.

2. Your Stomach is Always Giving You Problems

Digestive issues, including bloating, constipation, diarrhea, pain, cramping, and excessive gas, could be warning signs that your hormones are off. However, you could also be sensitive to something you’re regularly eating – like too much fiber, gluten, or too many sodas. It’s good to go ahead and check!

3. You’ve Gained Weight Recently

Depending on where you’ve gained weight – and how quickly – you may have a problem with your estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, or you may have too much cortisol in your blood. It could also be something up with your thyroid or insulin levels. Really, there are so many possibilities that we rely on lab tests to help us diagnose the issue and get you the care you need.

4. Fatigue’s Got You Down

Fatigue can be a symptom of many conditions, but if you’re just not feeling refreshed after sleep or you feel like someone’s sucking your energy out, you need to have some tests run. Don’t just try to “deal with it.” No one needs to live that way.

5. Skin Issues Like a Teenager – or Worse!

Our skin tells us so much about our health, so if you’ve got acne, rashes, swelling, or puffy eyes, come on in, sister!

  • Acne is usually caused by excessive testosterone

  • Rashes, eyebrow hair loss, and nail changes usually indicate a thyroid issue

  • Swelling could also be related to your thyroid, or it could be caused by progesterone imbalances

  • Looking gaunt can be caused by a decrease in estrogen

And of course, those are just a few examples!

6. You Can’t Catch Your Zzzz’s

Sleep disturbances and insomnia are irritating, to say the least. When women are heading toward menopause, it can be harder and harder to get good sleep. And it’s not just estrogen levels that may be causing an issue. If you’ve got too much cortisol, it will throw your sleep cycles off too.

These are just a few of the symptoms you may be experiencing if you’ve got a hormonal issue. Give us a call if you’ve got concerns. We’ll get you fixed up in no time!
