Happy BE-Day!!!

When we started this practice, I never dreamed we would grow to where we are today–that women (and families) would come to us from as far away as Africa and Canada for our kind of health care, that we would open our doors to men and families who also wanted access our mission. And look for some big news next month!!!!

In the past 5 years, we’ve delivered more than 1200 babies, helped women lose more than 4,000 pounds of weight, cried with families as women have left us and danced with women as their families happily grew. Those who know us well, know we are quite fond of some dancing in the office!

And I’m so incredibly grateful for those who have been with us on the journey–the “backstage help” no one knows about–husbands, boyfriends and parents who came up and helped us with overflowing toilets, bringing up food and other “unglamorous” tasks that were invaluable

And to my fellow amazing providers, my beloved nurses and front desk staff, our super sonographers, phlebotomists, holistic practitioners representing such disciplines as yoga and meditation…I honor and thank you.

We decided to celebrate this fifth year as our birthday.

When you take a practice through its first few years, it’s a lot like infancy and the toddler years. You don’t know what you’re doing all the time. You experiment and try new things. Overall, you know what you’re doing better than you ever thought you would. And sometimes things don’t go the way you thought they would. But it doesn’t matter, because you love it even through the difficult days…maybe a little more on the difficult days because it’s yours.

By the time a child turns five, they start having a life of their own. They go off to kindergarten and you have to start trusting that the foundation you’ve set for them is what will help them continue to thrive. You’re still there, of course, but you’re not there every second… Because the child has a life of its own.

Every single person who has walked through our doors has contributed to be’s life. It has thrived because of our amazing team, but also because of the community of patients, family members, and friends that surround it.

And just like many five year olds, other milestones are on the horizon. Hint, hint…

Be. definitely has a life of its own at this point. It has helped create a shift in healthcare and become an incubator for new ways of making the lives of women…and now men and kids…better and healthier. And I’m one proud mama!

What’s your favorite “be”? I’ve always said mine was “be you”–include yours below…and if you need a little inspiration…click on this link below and let these talented lads take you there.

Love to you all,
Dr. B
