What we stand for in healthcare

Your personal life is relevant to your overall well-being.
You cannot improve your life in pieces. You are a whole person, and separating your health from your life is like separating the dancer from the dance.

Health isn’t synonymous with youth.
It’s easy to long for the carefree days of yore, when you ate and drank whatever and whenever you wanted, slept like a stone, and woke up without consequence. But if you’re lucky, the majority of your life doesn’t take place during your youth. It’s the first stop, but certainly not the last.

There is no one picture of health.
Imagine if we tried to define who you are and your whole life by a single picture of you. That wouldn’t be fair, would it? The key to living a healthier life is letting it grow and change and adapt, rather than get hung up on one snapshot taken one day a long time ago.

Health does not mean symptom free.
You can be over 45 and be healthy. You can have back pain and a few extra pounds and cramps and some weird rash and still be healthy. The belief that you aren’t healthy unless you have zero symptoms is like saying you don’t have a real marriage unless you have zero fights. Or you’re not a parent unless your kids are perfect. None of this is true.

Self compassion is not about comfort; it’s about care.
Real, sustainable, life-changing health is not achieved through mani-pedis and moonlit bubble baths. Are those things nice and worth doing? Sure. Real compassion (and thus real self care) isn’t just doing what you feel like, but having the patience, generosity, and intention to provide the best care for yourself, as you would for someone you love.

Why Be?

Yes, we are gynecologists and family practitioners who treat everything from asthma to zits, adenomyosis to vaginismus (and everything in between).

We are also women who have been there ourselves and understand not just from a doctor’s perspective, but from a woman’s perspective. We have the expertise and the experience to help women change the way they see their health and their lives.
